Last time I visited Whistler was five years ago and both times I browsed in Armchair Books. It’s in the village square and occupies a cute little corner shop a short walk away from the base of both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Armchair books is a family owned and operated full-service bookstore and staffed by people who know the books they are selling.
The variety of books was great, especially for a vacation village setting. They have a full array of fiction and non-fiction, including bestsellers, classics, cookbooks, outdoor guides, Whistler & regional Pictorials, newspapers and magazines.
Armchair also has an interesting selection of eclectic titles on display. Title such as: Weird Things Customers Say In Bookstores, Dancing With Cats and I Could Pee On This caused me to chuckle.
Their children’s book section was well-stocked and would be a great place to take children when you wanted a quiet afternoon’s activity.
If you need a gift – they have some great novelties, small items, and journals.
I enjoyed my visit to Armchair and found the quality, selection and staff were all outstanding despite my visits being five years apart.
What Did I Buy?
A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron http://www.adogspurpose.com/the-books/a-dog-s-purpose.html
I loved this quote from the book:
“As for me: I loyally remained right where I was, remembering the very first time I had ever seen the boy and then just now, the very last time-and all the times in between. The deep aching grief I knew I would feel would come soon enough, but at that moment mostly what I felt was peace, secure in the knowledge that by living my life the way I had, everything had come down to this moment.
I had fulfilled my purpose.”
If you’re ever in Whistler, take the time to check out this gorgeous bookstore and check out the quirky titles.
