The Nike catch cry has come to mind over the years and I’ve often advised people to, ‘Just Do It‘.
Today I’m telling myself to ‘Just Do It’ in several situations I find myself in.
Firstly, the novel I’m writing has been tying me up in knots. First person/third person pint of view? Two complete plots or one?
I received a critique of the latest 8000 words of scene development, and while most comments were positive, it’s brought up lots of questions and areas to work on.
I just need to do it— write the book and move on. I wrote about this recently and have to keep working on sticking to the pledge of overcoming my nemesis.
Another thing I’m battling is my latest fitness and health kick. Every few months my body decides it’s had enough of what I’m doing and needs me to change things up. My personal trainer told me to eat more (apparently I was eating too few calories to lose weight???!!!) , do more weights and less cardio.
Last week I did three weight sessions, a boxing class, a run, a 6.5 km walk around the river and a bush walk. A fairly quiet week for me—I missed my spin and stretch classes due to work commitments. Has my body changed? I feel stronger, I’m sleeping well and my energy level has improved. But have the scales moved? No.
Should I give up? No. I’ll Just Do It!
When it comes to travel and opportunities to do things outside my comfort zone, I usually say yes straight away, but sometimes I’ll hesitate. I may have fears or feel like it’s too much effort, but I have decided to say yes when it fits in with my goals and dreams, and Just Do It!
