Appointments For Adventure 6: Teaching

Appointments For Adventure 6: Teaching

joy of life 2.001

Teaching is an adventure. Some of my best days have been in the classroom in some way, shape or form. The classrooms I work in today look a little like the ones in the photos below, or a one-one-one in a cafe or my library.

I’ve also been privileged to share some of my writing journey on 98five recently and reach a different audience. I speak at schools and conferences, I’ll go anywhere! Teaching is part of who I am, not just what I do.

Training in Cambodia

Today I’m tutoring a sixteen year old boy who just needs a little more confidence to write. I love that sort of teaching.

When my children were little, I  taught them about not demanding things, to be polite, to be brave, to be consistent, to finish what they started and to be loyal to their  friends.

Teaching and learning go together. It’s not a patriarchal relationship. I teach. You teach. We all learn. That has been a philosophy I’ve embedded in my practice for many years.

I  make those appointments because to share my knowledge and skills is done out of gratitude. I have been given much, in terms of opportunities, education, ability and  resources and I believe I have the responsibility to share with others.

I like giving and I like teaching. So why not combine the two?

Do you like teaching something? If you don’t already, make an appointment to teach.

love what you do.062
