Bookstore Adventures: Daunt Books London
Walking down Marylebone High Street is a fun activity, but to find Daunt Books right there in the middle of it all is a delight. This beautiful Edwardian bookshop is full of old-fashioned style. Gorgeous wood interiors, headlight windows and skylights make it beautiful to look at. The light streaming in from the windows gives the place a magical feel.
They have an excellent travel book selection and the helpful and friendly staff will assist you in finding just what you need.
The books are categorised by country and region. The travel books are not just the usual Lonely Planet guides, but also books on the particular region’s food, literature, folk cultures, art or novels.
Daunts have books on history, arts, food, culture, film, literature, and many more topics. While it’s famous for its travel book collection, they have a great range of literary books as well. The London literature section near the entrance was great.
I picked up a great book of London Walks and enjoyed browsing for an hour or so. I think I walked around the different levels several times, before heading back out onto the High Street and finding a lovely cafe in which to eat lunch.
