The Last Bookstore in LA has to be one of the most fun bookstores I’ve been to. It even has a labyrinth made of books! We discovered the store in the Historic District of La (I hadn’t even realised that LA had an Historic District before this trip!)
I was there the week Maya Angelou passed away and found a great display honouring her work. I bought a few of her books and will keep the memory of both her and The Last Bookstore forever.
This bookstore is more like a playground than a bookstore. The red knitted tunnel upstairs, the book sculptures and tunnels, the vintage kitsch and the hangout vibe of the place all combine with the books themselves to create a place book lovers will delight in.
Indie bookstores are becoming destinations prized by book lovers the world over and this one is worth a visit next time you’re in LA. With over 250,000 new and used books on two floors, the collection includes tens of thousands of vinyl records, graphic novels, a yarn shop and an artisan gallery. There’s even a back room full of 100,000 books for $1 each!
The Last Bookstore is definitely one you can have an adventure in!
#365adventure is a book lover’s year of adventures. Adventures in travel, friendship, family, soul, heart and, of course, book stores!
