After months of preparation, last Sunday I did my first TEDx talk— The List. Over the next few days I’ll share some quotes from the talk. I hope you enjoy them.
Do you ever feel as if life is more like a spectator sport than a game you’re actively involved in?
Do you find yourself scrolling through social media updates watching videos of some silly cat playing piano and wasting a lot of time?
Our lives pass through the filter of a screen and in the tyranny of To-Do lists.
We can be too busy watching other people live their lives that we forget to get out and live our own lives.
Who hasn’t looked at today’s date and wondered how we’re almost at the halfway point of the year?
Or maybe you’ve asked the question—what am I doing with my life?
You see, ten years ago I was in a classroom teaching a bunch of students about to graduate from high school asking myself a question.
How do I deliberately redesign or recalibrate my life, get away from filling my days with mundane tasks and begin to live in a raw, adventurous and passion-filled way?
The answer was found in The List.
Every year I’d set my graduating classes a final assignment. Before they left to attend college, I’d get them to write The List.
The List was one hundred things they wanted to do in their lives. They could be whimsical, career orientated or downright crazy, but it had to be one hundred.
Do you have 100 things you’d want to do in your life?
Why not try it?
